Engineering Education Specialist
Compensation: $45–$60 per hour
Schedule: Flexible, based on program and instructional needs
Role Summary
The Engineering Education Specialist will provide technical and educational support for hands-on STEM learning programs. The position is responsible for helping students explore engineering and computer science through practical activities, creative projects, and technology-based problem solving.
This role is designed for an individual with a strong technical foundation who can combine engineering knowledge with effective teaching practices. The specialist will work directly with students and assist with the preparation and delivery of engineering-focused learning activities.
Job Duties
- Facilitate hands-on STEM learning activities that introduce students to engineering, computer science, robotics, and related technologies.
- Support students in selecting and using appropriate tools, materials, and technologies for their projects.
- Help students apply technical concepts to creative projects and real-world problem-solving activities.
- Introduce students to current technologies, including appropriate applications of AI and other emerging tools.
- Provide technical assistance during the construction, testing, and modification of student-developed projects.
- Assist in preparing and organizing instructional materials and STEM project activities.
Desired Background
- A Master’s degree in Computer Engineering or its equivalent.
- Academic or professional experience in engineering, computer science, robotics, or a related technical field.
- Experience applying technical knowledge to hands-on projects.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Experience working with students or in an educational environment is preferred.
Technical Knowledge and Experience
Candidates should have knowledge or practical experience in several of the following areas:
- Programming and software development.
- Robotics and technology-based project development.
- Electronic components, sensors, and basic circuit systems.
- 3D modeling and computer-aided engineering design.
- 3D printing and prototype fabrication.
- Laser cutting and related digital manufacturing processes.
- Artificial intelligence and emerging technology applications.
Work Environment
This is a hands-on instructional position involving direct interaction with students and practical engineering projects. The specialist may work with a variety of software, electronic components, fabrication tools, and project materials while supporting students in developing and testing their designs.
